Welcome to a wonderful world of whimsy.
My name is Zinia King, I’m an illustrator of real and imaginary worlds with a focus on Australiana. I live in the beautiful Adelaide Hills (in South Australia) and I am super inspired by the beautiful native plants and animals that I see every day. I love detail and am a big fan of working with fine liner pens and vivid watercolour washes. It is my intention that interactions with my characters will fill your ‘whimsy’ quota for the day and that you might take more time to appreciate the beautiful natural environment around you. I hope you love my art as much as I love creating it.
I intend on sharing a bunch of my sketchbook doodles, experiments and lots of behind the scenes sneak peaks in this newsletter. Over time this will evolve. This is going to be a monthly newsletter, I have no intension of spamming you with content.

Hey Zinia,
My wife saw one of your books for kids and suggested i contact you as a possible artist for a project i am undertaking for National Parks and Wildlife on Christmas Island. We are building a new lookout and i want to permanently paint the CNC silhouettes of Animals and birds found on the island and fix them to the balustrades. There could be possibly 5 - 6 and would be up to 800mm x 500mm in size. We would provide original photos but leave the painting to the artist on a steel base we would supply. We last commissioned a Stainless Steel Booby Bird for another project on CI and that is now the most talked about bird in National Parks.
